All my best memories as a Junior are from when we travelled abroad to compete and train. I vividly remember going to Brittany for the first time when I was 14. I stayed with a family that were very wealthy, and they had a wicked boat. The tournament was in Dinard on clay, and at the end of the first day we went to a creperie for dinner - I ate 3 chocolate and banana crepes. The next day we had off, we had a hit and then went out on the families boat for the day - awesome. I remember the first time we went to Portugal. My dad entered me in a tournament at the Roger Taylor Tennis Centre in Val De Lobo. I played the number 2 in Portugal, and he had a massive topspin forehand that went through the air at about 5mph and then fizzed off the court at about 200mph. He was using one of those 'old school' black metal Prince rackets, there were loads of wild flowers next to the court and they smelt like suncream. The first time I went to Africa to compete was in Rabat. We arrived at night, a dude met us at the airport and took us all to a restaurant. There was a buffet with plates full of massive kebabs. It was really hot and I was starving. I was first up, filled my plate, sat down and bit into one of the kebabs - BOOM - the meat was virtually raw, just burnt on the outside. I was gagging and then to top it all the dude told me it was goat meat, ahhhhh!! After that I just ate the rice. It's important that we provide our players with diverse and challenging experiences in fresh environments. Tennis is a tough game, and if you're good, you will travel. Our job is to prepare them for it"

In 2008, LevertonWilliams Coach James Rose moved to Spain to take up a performance coaching position at the Municipal Club de Tenis in Pego. This gave LevertonWilliams players the opportunity to train on clay all year round.
In 2010 James was offered the position 'Director of Coaching' at the La Manga Club in Murcia. La Manga now plays a major role in the GuyLeverton Tennis clay court training programme.
LevertonWilliams players train with Belgium Davis Cup Team, Spain, December 2011
Between 14th and 21st December, Guy Leverton and Adrian Williams took 8 players from the UK and Channel Islands to the LevertonWilliams European clay court training base, La Manga for 5 days intensive training. Each day began with a 1.5hr physical session in the gym, followed by 6 hours on court.
Also at La Manga for these dates were the Belgium Davis Cup Team; 8 players, 4 coaches and 2 press officers. Adrian Williams said "it was great for our players on the first day. We arrived at the gym at 8.30am and the guys from Belgium were already hard at it, this was a perfect way to set the tone for the whole trip.
Rosie (James Rose, Director of Coaching, La Manga / TEAM LevertonWilliams) put our players and Rochus and the boys in the same block of 8 courts everyday so the atmosphere was brilliant. We did baskets for 3 hours in the morning followed by a few very specific drills and then we'd finish off with some points, perfect."
The players then wound down every evening at the La Manga Club Spa fully equipped with ice baths, steam rooms and on site physio. "The thing is, we pushed this lot for 7.5hrs every day with very little rest, it might sound like they were on holiday but they earnt every minute they spent in that spa," said Guy Leverton. "This is one of the reasons we chose this facility, you've got Champions League football teams mingling with International Tennis teams, its a perfect environment for aspiring professional athletes, and gives them a taste for what they can achieve if they work hard."
"It's a wicked set up, just this afternoon Jake got to hit with Olivier Rochus (World No. 63). Oshi hit with Steve Darcis (World No. 89) and Weaver hit with David Goffin (World No. 185). These are the things that as a junior tennis player you remember."
